The current Pakistani TV shows are a far cry from the usual saas-bahu saga that once ruled the country’s television industry. Today, it’s all about quality content, a good storyline, and layered characters. The shows may not get the same limelight as other dramas across the border. But they surely appeal to the audience and keep them glued to their television sets. Here are Pakistan’s top eight TV shows that are worth binge-watching.

Dastaan
This TV show is based on a novel by Razia Butt and is set during the country’s partition and independence. It revolves around the story of Hassan, played by Fawad Khan, and Bano, played by Sanam Baloch, who fight for their identity, honor, and dignity. Shot across various locations with a huge star cast, Dastaan is a perfect blend of drama and intrigue.

The plot revolves around romance, jealousy, and, ultimately, forgiveness which conquers all.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai

Her parents have separated, and she has biased views towards men and other classes. Life changes when she meets Zaroon at university, and they have a love-hate relationship. The show is aired on HUM TV. Its realistic acting, drama, and gripping storyline make this one of Pakistan’s top TV shows.

Khaas also touches upon woman empowerment and inspires all suppressed women in marriage to take a stand, even if it goes against customs. The program is also marked by an excellent script and well-defined characters.
